Aisha, this is something that I've always wanted to ask and I hope you're not offended. What happens if one day you want to become more religious? Do you wear headscarf? Do you cover your aurah? Do you pray in the women's section in the mosque? How do you see yourself committing yourself in the religion as a transgender?

as far as i know transsexual in islam is totally prohibited. Aisha said about mukhannath. yup! Rasullah didn't kill them because they didn't do anything wrong and they are protected as long as they still in teritory of mecca and medina. In islam the 'hukum' for transsexual people is not death. But still this transsexual people have been 'laknat' by ALLAH s.w.t.

Unless you are born as 'khunsa'. Only this type of people that is accepted by ALLAH s.w.t. so which one are you?
purposely change your sex because you feel you are more to woman than what you already are..a man..is totally wrong and been 'laknat' by ALLAH s.w.t. because that is actually a 'dugaan' for you. Well if you understand islam very well then you must know what does it mean by 'redha dgn ketentuanNya' and you know how to handle all the 'dugaan' that you faced.

Clearly there is no such thing as “Muslim transsexual sex workers"

"Clearly there is no such thing as “Muslim transsexual sex workers”. I’m pretty sure these transsexual sex workers does not subscribe, practice or even believe in the Islamic religion. Do you really think they believe in Allah, pray 5 times a day, fast during the month of Ramadhan, read the Quran, or at least do any one of the things that a Muslim must do?"

Ashadu an La illah ha il Allah, Ashadu ana Muhammad an rasul Allah. Yes I am a muslim and I am a transsexual. I do all of the above things (try to any way). The first thing I want to point out is that YES one can be a muslim and a transsexual. There were a group of people in Medina and Mecca during the life of Muhammad known as Mukhannathun. Muhammad even knew some personally. Consider these two hadith.

Sunan Abu Daud Book 41 #4910:
    Narrated AbuHurayrah:

"A mukhannath (TS/TG male-to female) who had dyed his hands and feet with henna was brought to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him). He asked: What is the matter with this man? He was told: Apostle of Allah! he affects women's get-up. So he ordered regarding him and he was banished to an-Naqi'. The people said: Apostle of Allah! should we not kill him? He said: I have been prohibited from killing people who pray. AbuUsamah said: Naqi' is a region near Medina and not a Baqi'."

So we see that the common people, not unlike "thelastPeople" above did not like this persons gender presentation. They were sure it had to be against Islam and so brought him to the Prophet sure of a death sentence. Then Muhammad PBUH supervised them by not punishing this person at all.

Make no mistake contemporary sources are clear on just what these mukhanath did with their lives. They performed as entertainers at weddings, and on stage. They were house keepers and due to their lack of interest in women were trusted to guard the harem. They were transsexual/transgender by any description. This hadith shows that simply being this way, including the dressing and acting feminine, is not a sin nor against Islamic law (i.e. in Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, or Egypt).

However being a sex worker is another story. Sex work is and would be haram for anyone to engage in male female or mukhannath. All I can say about that is... it is sad that their society, and ours, cannot see past their own bigotry and give these ladies a break. I know that as transsexuals we can be more competent than a male or female candidate for a position and still be rejected. Give these people education, and a fair chance at a job and you will see much less sex work!

I also find it interesting how no one has had anything to say about the muslim men who partake of these ladies services. Are they not sinning doubbly as no doubt they are not only fornicating but married to women as well!

I know these truths will just bounce off of many a muslim who reads this. Even that hadith will somehow be ignored. I know and god knows who is right and only god can decide. It is to the will of Allah that I submit not the bigotry and ignorance of men.

As sallam ul lakium.

This is a demonstration of why Johore is having far more violent "crimes" rate then other states ( in general ), because of their suppression of understanding or extreme lack of proper education in a holistic point of view. Furthermore, religion serve the people and it is not the people who serve the religion.

Hi Poh Si,

I caught Pecah Lobang this evening, and I found it impressive not simply for the usual praise of cinematography and dialogue, but for the simple fact that it was all managed by someone as young as you (I'm roughly the same age you see:P). My girlfriend even commented that it was her favourite part of the evening. I do have a query though. Where can I get hold of the soundtrack. I think the music complemented the film and would probably sound great even as a stand alone. I hope to hear from you and about your work soon.

Regards,
Ming

I agree with "TheLastPeople" statement above.

Clearly there is no such thing as "Muslim transsexual sex workers". I'm pretty sure these transsexual sex workers does not subscribe, practice or even believe in the Islamic religion. Do you really think they believe in Allah, pray 5 times a day, fast during the month of Ramadhan, read the Quran, or at least do any one of the things that a Muslim must do?

You can call them "Malay transsexual sex workers" as that would be more appropriate for your film description. But using "Muslim" doesn't make any sense at all... especially on a "transsexual sex workers"
